Our Story

Growing up as an Indian American woman, expressing myself through fashion wasn't always encouraged. Over time, getting dressed became more than just putting together an outfit, it became my way of experimenting, taking up space, and deciding who I wanted to be that day.

House of Sahiti was born from that experience. Inspired by both my Indian heritage and now the freedom to explore personal style, the brand blends traditional craftsmanship with modern silhouettes to create pieces that feel expressive, versatile, and uniquely your own.

I believe everyone deserves clothing that lets them step into whatever version of themselves they want to embody, whether that's soft, bold, glamorous, playful, or somewhere in between. Every collection is designed with the hope that you'll find pieces that feel like an extension of who you are, while inspiring new ways to express yourself.

Our Process

We believe beautiful clothing is worth taking the time to make. Most House of Sahiti pieces are made to order or produced in small batches, allowing each garment to receive the attention to detail, craftsmanship, and individuality it deserves.

While traveling throughout India, I spent months exploring textile markets and learning the specialties of different regions. Along the way, I often came across beautiful fabrics that existed only in limited quantities, sometimes just enough to create a handful of garments, or available only for that particular season. Even then, I could already envision the silhouette that fabric was meant to become.

Rather than designing around mass production, many of our pieces begin with a moment of discovery. Every garment carries a story of travel, exploration, and inspiration, making each one deeply personal to me. Because many of these textiles are only available in limited quantities, some designs may only ever exist in a small number, making each collection naturally limited.

Every piece is then brought to life through hours, and sometimes days, of hand-stitching by skilled artisans, many of whom learned their craft from the generations before them.

Why India?

One of the things I've always loved most about Indian culture is its textiles and craftsmanship. The techniques, embroidery, fabrics, and artistry have been passed down through generations, yet they often aren't recognized globally in the way they deserve.

House of Sahiti was created to celebrate that craftsmanship while presenting it through a modern lens. Every piece is developed alongside skilled artisans whose work deserves to be seen, appreciated, and preserved. Rather than separating Indian fashion from everyday wardrobes, I wanted to create clothing that naturally fits into them, pieces you can wear to weddings, vacations, concerts, dinners, festivals, or simply because getting dressed should be fun.

Today, India is experiencing a decline in many traditional crafts as fast fashion makes speed and volume more profitable than skilled craftsmanship. Fewer people have the incentive to learn techniques that can take years to master. Yet so much of the global fashion industry continues to draw inspiration from Indian embroidery, beadwork, textiles, and draping traditions.

These pieces would never be possible without the patience, precision, and artistry of the artisans behind them. By choosing House of Sahiti, you're also supporting the people preserving these crafts at their source, helping ensure these traditions continue to be valued for generations to come.
